AMDAMD has scheduled to release its new 7 series chipsets in the second half of 2007.

“The 7 series chipsets will introduce support for HyperTransport 3.0 and will include the high-end RD790 which will adopt PCI Express 2.0, mainstream RX780, and two models with integrated graphics (IGP); the RS740 which supports DirectX 9, and RS780 which will add support for DirectX 10 and AMD’s UVD (Universal Video Decoder) technology, according the the sources. The RX780 and RS740 will launch in the third quarter while the RD790 and RD780 will follow in the fourth quarter,” DigiTimes reports.

intel Intel plans to launch two new entry level chipsets in Q3 this year to replace the current 946GZ/PL and 945G chipsets. Intel G31 Express and P31 Express support the current Core 2 Duo and Quad processors as well as the upcoming 45nm Yorkfield and Wolfdale. G31/P31 supports 1066FSB in Q3’07 and 1333FSB in Q1’08 upon validation, DDR2-800 memories up to 4GB and allows one x16 PCIe slot for discrete graphics. However, G31/P31 is paired up with older ICH7 series. For G31, it comes with integrated Intel GMA 3100 like G33, Q33 and Q35 chipsets.

“Scheduled to ship in October, Leopard introduces over 300 new features, including a new Desktop and Dock with Stacks, an intuitive new way to organize files; an updated Finder featuring Cover Flow™ and a new way to easily browse and share files between multiple Macs; Quick Look, a new way to rapidly preview most files without opening an application; Time Machine, a new way to easily and automatically back up and restore lost files or a complete Mac®; Spaces, a powerful new feature to create groups of applications and instantly switch between them; and enhanced iChat and Mail applications, which easily allow users to communicate even more creatively,” according to Apple.

SISSiS plans to unleash a new family of single-chip and dual-chip chipsets for Intel Penryn dual and quad-core processors next year. The single-chip family consists of the SiS 680-series, in five different variants. SiS plans to cater the 680-series towards performance, mainstream and entry-level market segments.

Acer is also planing to introduce a same-sized model built around ATI Radeon X1250/X1200 chipsets, named the Aspire X1100.
