NVIDIA to Launch nForce 680i LT SLI Chipset in March

NVIDIA nForceNVIDIA is set to release the nForce 680i LT SLI gaming PC motherboard chipset, which will be slightly cheaper than the actual nForce 680i SLI, according to DailyTech.

“Unlike the heat-pipe endowed nForce 680i SLI motherboards, nForce 680i LT SLI-based motherboards will have active cooling. Instead of support for DDR2-1200 memory, NVIDIA has limited the memory controller to DDR2-800,” DailyTech’s report says.

Front-side bus speed up to 1333 MHz remains supported, as well as NVIDIA’s SLI multi-graphics processor technology. But, NVIDIA’s 680i LT SLI will have only one Gigabit connector instead of two found in 680i SLI chipset and eight USB ports instead of ten.

DailyTech expects nForce 680i LT SLI-based motherboards to launch in early March.

NVIDIA nForce 680i chipsets are designed for use with Intel’s Core 2 Duo/Quad/Extreme processors, contrary to 680a for AMD Quad FX platform.
