Intel’s New Notebook Platform Coming in May

IntellogoIntel will release its next Centrino notebook platform, codenamed Santa Rosa in May, TG Daily reported recently.

Intel has earlier announced that the Santa Rosa will support 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo processors and will feature 667MHz up to 800MHz front-side bus, which speed can be dynamically reduced and raised.

According to some reports, the new Centrino platform will incorporate Graphics Media Accelerator X3000, as a part of platform’s 965GM “Crestline” chipset. The Santa Rosa’s graphics solution will be DirectX 10 compatible, TG Daily says.

The next generation Centrino will also feature forthcoming 802.11n wireless standard and ‘Robson’ flash memory based hard drive cache to boost computers performance, the chip maker said.

Along with Santa Rosa notebook platform, Intel will introduce new 64-bit Core 2 Duo processors in May, with 800MHz FSB support, compared to 667MHz in current Core 2 Duos.
