Apple today announced the new Mac Pro computer, which is now configurable with two quad-core Intel Xeon “Clovertown” processors running at 3.0GHz, providing a total of eight CPU cores.
Mac Pro accommodates up to four drives and 3TB of storage, offers eight DIMM slots for up to 16GB of RAM, and provides up to two SuperDrives. You can choose between three graphics cards, including the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT (256MB), ATI Radeon X1900 XT (512MB), and NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 (512MB). You can also configure Mac Pro with as many as four GeForce 7300 GT graphics cards, Apple says.
The basic eight-core Mac Pro configuration is priced at $3,997.00 and comes with Mac OS X Server v10.4 operating system. The Mac Pro still can be purchased with two dual-core Intel Xeon processors.
