Intel unveiled five new products in the Dual-Core Intel Itanium 2 Processor 9000 series. Previously codenamed “Montecito,” the new 64-bit Itanium server processors “double the performance and lower energy requirements, improving performance per watt by 2.5 times compared to existing, single-core versions”, Intel’s press release says.
The Dual-Core Intel Itanium 2 processor 9000 series delivers performance at a system scale unmatched by competing RISC architectures. According to Intel, Itanium 2 sets world record results in several key server benchmarks including a score of 4230 SPEC_int_rate_base_20001, nearly triple the previous record.
Dual-core Itanium 2-based systems target the most compute intensive areas, such as business analytics, large data warehouses and HPC areas.

* Intel Itanium 2 9040: two processing cores, 1.60GHz, 16KB (data) +16KB (instructions) L1 cache, 256KB (data) + 1MB (instructions) L2 cache, 18MB (9MB per core) L3 cache, 533MHz/400MHz QPB. Pricing in 1000-unit quantities: $1980.
* Intel Itanium 2 9030: two processing cores, 1.60GHz, 16KB (data) +16KB (instructions) L1 cache, 256KB (data) + 1MB (instructions) L2 cache, 8MB (4MB per core) L3 cache, 533MHz/400MHz QPB. Pricing in 1000-unit quantities: $1552.
* Intel Itanium 2 9020: two processing cores, 1.42GHz, 16KB (data) +16KB (instructions) L1 cache, 256KB (data) + 1MB (instructions) L2 cache, 12MB (6MB per core) L3 cache, 533MHz/400MHz QPB. Pricing in 1000-unit quantities: $910.
