Intel Core 2 Extreme For Notebooks Coming in Q2/Q3 2007

Intel Core 2 ExtremeIntel will launch the first gaming Intel Core 2 Extreme processor for notebooks in Q2/Q3 2007, HKEPC reports.

Intel’s plans says that the first Core 2 Extreme CPU for mobile computers will be the X7800. It is clocked at 2.6GHz, has 4MB of L2 cache and a 800MHz FSB. The 64-bit capable X7800 will feature overclocking capabilities.

Another forthcoming CPU in the code-named Merom XE series will be the X7900. It has the same specifications as X7800 except the clock speed of 2.8GHz. Intel Core 2 Extreme X7900 will be launched in Q4 2007.

Intel X7800 and X7900 processors, featuring socket P, are designed for use with company’s next generation laptop PC platform, code-named Santa Rosa.

The price for one thousand of Core 2 Extreme X7800 processors will be $795 per unit, the HKEPC reports.
