Hewlett-Packard has announced the HP Pavilion Slimline s3000y and HP Pavilion Slimline s3000e desktop computer, both smaller than “one-third the size of a regular PC” and powered by Intel’s and and AMD’s processors, respectively.
The s3000y, which starts at $549, can be configured with CPUs in range from 64-bit Intel Pentium 4 641 to 64-bit Core 2 Duo E6300, as well as with integrated Intel 950 or with one of the dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 7300LE/7350LE/7500LE video cards.
HP Pavilion s3000e, priced at $499 for base configuration, comes with AMD Sempron 3600+, AMD Athlon 64 3800+ or with dual-core AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+. All of these processors support 64-bit operating systems and software. The s3000e provides choices between integrated NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE and dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 7300LE/7350LE/7500LE graphics.
Both s3000y and s3000e ship with up to 2GB of main memory and with up to 400GB of hard drive storage.
The new small desktop PCs from HP have Windows Vista pre-installed, but it is not specified if there is a 64-bit Vista option available. We will update this page as soon as we get information about it.
