Gigabyte to Launch Santa Rosa Based Laptops at Cebit

gigabyte.logo Gigabyte will launch the new Intel Santa Rosa based laptop line-up next week at CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany. The new notebook series include the 17-inch gaming laptop with dual graphics card system, the models with NVIDIA’s new graphics chipsets, as same as eight-hour batteries.

Gigabyte W251U notebook is a 12.1-inch, 1.8 kg ultraportable with magnesium alloy chasis, 1.3 megapixel webcam and “long battery life”.

Gigabyte W466U notebook is 14.1-inch Santa Rosa based business notebook with 1.3 MPx Webcam, a new card slot, and a 4-in-1 card reader and also comes equipped with four USB 2.0 ports, one IEEE 1394, TV-out and a D-sub connector for video-out.

Gigabyte W468N with 14.1-inch screen is a multimedia laptop with fingerprint reader and “Robson’ quick access boot-up technology. W468N is also based on Intel Santa Rosa platform and has nVIDIA NB8P 256MB graphics.

Gigabyte W566N is 15.4-inch WXGA multimedia/gaming notebook with nVidia NB8M 256MB graphics.

Gigabyte W756N is a 17-inch multimedia powerhouse with dual graphics card system. It is the first and only 17-inch dual graphics card system, giving you up to a 100% increase in graphics performance over single graphics card systems. The W756N comes with 1GB of graphics memory.

The new Gigabyte laptops come equipped with 10 000 mAH Power Express Li-Polymer cell battery that can keep your notebook running for 8 hours.

The Gigabyte’s Santa Rosa laptops will ship with Windows Vista operating system. It is claimed that Vista on Gigabyte’s new notebooks will provide DirectX 10 feature.

Intel has earlier announced that the Santa Rosa will support 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo processors and will feature 667MHz up to 800MHz front-side bus, which speed can be dynamically reduced and raised. There are also 802.11n wireless standard and ‘Robson’ flash memory based hard drive cache incorporated.
