Dell unveiled Dell Precision 690 and Dell Precision 490, desktop workstations featuring the latest Intel Xeon 5100 dual-core 64-bit processors.
“Featuring the Intel Xeon processor 5100 series, these workstations deliver performance gains over previous models of up to 45 percent on single-threaded applications and up to 155 percent on multithreaded applications”, says press release.
Dell Precision 690 and Dell Precision 490 double the number of memory channels to four fully buffered dual in-line memory modules and feature a unique, scalable advanced memory design, up to 16 DIMMs via optional memory risers.
