VIA Technologies is scheduled to launch its new processor core, dubbed Isaiah, in the first quarter of 2008, with the new architecture entering EVT engineering validation test stage in the fourth quarter of 2007, according to Digitimes.
“The Isaiah core engineering codename CN will replace VIAs Esther processor architecture, which was introduced in 2004,” Digitimes said.

AMD is preparing to launch a new high-end desktop processor, the Athlon 64 X2 6400, which will be the last processor in the Athlon 64 X2 family, DigiTimes reports.
Currently, AMD’s highest-end desktop processor is the Athlon 64 X2 6000. However, with its performance unable to match Intel’s upcoming Core 2 Duo E6850, AMD plans to launch the new 6400 to cover up the gap in the market, noted the DigiTimes’ sources.
Dell has announced its new Vostro line of desktop and laptop PCs, based on AMD’s and Intel’s 64-bit solutions. The new systems are more business-oriented than Dells Inspiron consumer PCs, yet more personalized than the enterprise-class Dell Optiplex and Latitude PCs.
AMD is gearing up for the Back to School season by announcing some price cuts for its dual-core processors on Monday. Besides these price cuts AMD will also can all current single-core Athlon and Sempron processors.
Apple’s iPhone is currently not supported under 64-bit Windows Vista and 64-bit Windows XP operating systems, Engadget reports. “The error message, ‘The software required for iPhone is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install iTunes again.’ is Apples magical way of telling you that iTunes is not supported on 64-bit flavors of Microsoft’s operating systems. Yeah, we agree, they should have listed the incompatibility on the iPhone specs page under Windows System Requirements. Unfortunately for those of you new to Apple software, its buried in support article 301301 which states, ‘iTunes is currently not supported in Windows XP Professional x64 Edition or any 64-bit edition of Windows Vista.’ Now you know,” Engadget says.
We assume Apple will provide iPhone’s 64-bit Windows compatibility with software updates.

Silicon Integrated System (SiS) has announced that Asustek Computer’s P5S-MX SE motherboard, which adopts its SiS671FX chipset, has been officially launched. “The P5S-MX SE motherboard supports Intel Core 2 Duo, Pentium D, Pentium 4 and Celeron processors with 1066, 800 and 533MHz FSB. It supports single-channel DDR2 667MHz memory with bandwidth up to 5.4GB/s,” DigiTimes reports.

AMD announced today that Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors, code-named “Barcelona,” are planned for shipment in both standard and low power versions at launch in August. “Due to its enhanced architecture – it is the world’s first x86 CPU to integrate four processing cores on a single die of silicon – Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors can deliver significant performance and performance-per-watt enhancements over existing processor architectures yet are designed to be backwards compatible with existing AMD Opteron platforms,” according to AMD.
Dell has released the new 64-bit desktop and notebook computers. The new PCs are Inspiron 530, 530s and 531, 531s desktops; Inspiron 1720, 1721 (17-inch), Inspiron 1520 and 1521 (15.4-inch), Inspiron 1420 (14.1 inch) notebooks; and XPS M1330 (13.3-inch) notebook.
Biostar has released its T-Series TF560 A2 motherboard which supports AMD’s upcoming socket AM2+ CPUs. Although socket AM2+ CPUs will not launch until later in the year, the socket is backwards compatible and is able to support both AM2 and AM2+ CPUs, according to the company.
AMD’s family of high-end desktop CPUs Phenom (Agena) is scheduled to start appearing in November, according to sources at Taiwan-based motherboard makers. Four products are set to be available in 2007, which will be followed by 11 more during first quarter 2008.
Shuttle now offers a SFF barebone PC featuring the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) – the Shuttle XPC SG33G5. Intel plans to reveal at least tree new products including the Pentium E2180 processor with 1 MB cache, a new Celeron 440 CPU and a the Q35 chipset. The Celeron 440 is based on the Conroe L dual core processor, supports FSB 800 and has total of 512 KB cache and is clocked at 2 GHz. The Intel Pentium dual core processor E2180 is based on the Conroe core and it also supports FSB 800, has 1 MB cache and will work at 2.0 GHz, according to Fudzilla.
