Apple unveiled the new quad-core Mac Pro 64-bit desktop workstation featuring two Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors running up to 3.0GHz and a new system architecture that delivers up to twice the performance of the Power Mac G5 Quad, Apple published.
You have three powerful graphics cards from which to choose, including the NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT (256MB), ATI Radeon X1900 XT (512MB), and NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 (512MB). You can also fill your Mac Pro with as many as four GeForce 7300 GT graphics cards.
Mac Pro enclosure accommodates up to four drives and 2TB of storage; offers 8 DIMM slots to fill with up to 16GB of RAM; provides up to two SuperDrives. You also have four PCI Express slots, and more I/O ports — including two additional ports up front.
Price for the base configuration, which features 2 x dual-core 2.6GHz processors, 1GB of RAM, a 250GB SATA hard drive, NVIDIA’s GeForce 7300GT with 256MB of RAM, and a 16x SuperDrive, is $2500.
New Mac Pro comes with Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger preloaded.
