Abit today announced the AB9 QuadGT motherboard for Core 2 Quad/Duo processors. Intel P965 chipset based Abit AB9 QuadGT has been specifically engineered for and around LGA775 quad-core CPUs with up to 1066 MHz FSB, the press release says.
The new motherboard uses 100% Japanese made solid state capacitors.
“A 6-layer board layout equipped with 100% Japanese made solid state capacitors and ceramic digital PWMs warrant the best electrical characteristics under the most stable currents. Abit’s patented Silent OTES convection heat-pipe design keeps the Northbridge as well as the digital PWMs efficiently cool. These abit engineered features prolong your the life of your motherboard product and dramatically increase durability by protecting vital components from strenuous thermal and electrical stress,” according to Abit.
Abit AB9 QuadGT has two X16 PCIe slots, but one of the slots supports only PCIe X4 bandwidth. However, the AB9 QuadGT still caters adequately to most of today’s graphics needs, including CrossFire operation, Abit claims.
Four motherboard’s 240-pin DIMM sockets support up to 8GB of 800/667/533 Un-buffered Non-ECC memory. The AB9 QuadGT has six internal SATA 3Gb/s and two eSATA connectors, as same as single Ultra DMA IDE. It also features on board PCI Gigabit LAN controller, 7.1 CH HD Audio, and comes with HDMI ready header (SPDIF header). Along with three USB headers supporting six ports, there is one IEEE 1394 port.
